Quinta de Louredo, situated in Marco de Canaveses, Northern Portugal, is a flourishing organic farm spanning approximately 25 hectares. The landscape boasts lush meadows, fruit orchards, vegetable greenhouses, dense forests, and vineyards. The farm is committed to organic agriculture, eschewing the use of pesticides, herbicides, and other chemicals. Embracing traditional farming practices, Quinta employs extensive manual labor, including hand-weeding, meticulous seed-by-seed sowing, the daily ritual of leading animals to pasture each morning, etc.
Quinta de Louredo holds significant personal meaning for me, as it has been my home since I first arrived in Portugal. Being part of a small, close-knit team—more like a family—involved in the daily operations of the farm, each member plays a crucial role in maintaining its sustainability. My responsibilities on the farm encompass a wide range of agricultural tasks, from planting and harvesting to tending to the gardens and caring for the animals. Additionally, I have taken on the delightful task of baking organic sourdough bread, cookies, and cakes, contributing to the diverse aspects that make Quinta de Louredo thrive.
In addition to our daily responsibilities, we host various tourist activities. These include kids' summer camps, visits from schools and kindergartens for nature and animal experiences. We also welcome tourist groups interested in learning and participating in workshops on bread baking, flower design, and organic agriculture. Our involvement extends to organizing local markets that bring together a community interested in sustainable living, permaculture, and alternative education for children
In order to promote farm's projects, I was in charge for creating the website and implementing SEO strategies, developing the logo and branding, elaborating labels and packaging, and managing the presence on social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram.
